My Twitter Mug (which I bought from CrowdedInk) has proved to be so popular that I thought it would be fun to organise a Christmas competition and offer a free mug to the winner! That’s right, here’s your opportunity to win a mug with the faces of all your Twitter friends on it. Everybody wants one! It even makes your coffee taste better!

The contest is open to anyone, all over the globe, available to anywhere that Zazzle can ship the mug too. Obviously it would help if you had a Twitter account as that’s how the list of friends on the mug is built up. But if you don’t have a Twitter account, just find someone who has and I’ll send you a mug of THEIR friends (if you are so inclined). It’s always better to use your own friends though, that is, if you have any ;)

How to enter

There are two ways you can enter this competition. You can write a blog post about it or your can Tweet about it. You can enter with both these if you want to increase your chances of winning. The competition starts now and closes on the 31st December 2008 at 23:59 GMT.

  1. Blog Post: In order to get an entry into the competition, simply write a blog post about it and leave a comment on this post to let me know about your post. If you have multiple blogs you can enter multiple times (up to 5 times).

  2. Tweet: To enter the competition, simply follow me. Then all you have to do is Tweet the following: RT @OwenC is giving away a Twitter Mug for New Year. Enter here: http://tinyurl.com/winatwittermug You can enter the contest as many times as you like, but if you don’t leave a 4 hour gap between tweets, they will be considered invalid.

That’s all! The contest winner will be picked at random just after the New Year is ushered in here in the UK. I’ll be needing your Twitter name (if I don’t already know it) and your address to ship the mug to, so if you can be online that would help, but you don’t have to be. This is my first competition, so I’m looking forward to running it. Good luck everyone!

invalid:

"accepted" is a status that only the owner can specify. It indicates that they are willing to work on it (they have 'accepted' the ticket). To visit a ticket that is unassigned and set it to 'accepted' is to implicitly declare that you are the owner. Closing as this is working as intended.

Merry Christmas my Friends... HoHoHoHoHoHo!

Well almost. It’s the night before the night before Christmas and our house is full of wrapping paper, the turkey is sitting in the fridge and the tree is sparkling in the corner. I’m finally getting into the spirit, but I’m working tomorrow, so I’m not quite there yet. We also have family over (Camille’s parents and sister are over to celebrate Christmas with us), so it’s going to be pretty much a home/family thing this year.

We’ll be spending New Year’s Eve in too, but we tend to turn it into a great party. There are loads New Years Eve party ideas that one can implement, and I got some great ideas from the New Years Eve ideas page on Celebrations.com. We normally have lots of finger foods in, champagne and even party games, but the website has loads of other suggestions too. Ideas range from Family Friendly New Year’s Eve Parties all the way through to a New Year’s Eve 80s Retro Party. We’ll take some ideas from there but we have a pretty good formula we use.

This year Arthur is 2, well almost 3, so Christmas is a really big thing for him. He’s all eager waiting for Santa to come, has his stocking and keeps asking whether it’s Christmas yet. It promises to be great fun! Can’t wait!

http://www.u-g-h.com/2008/12/23/my-twitter-mug-is-here-merry

twittermugI received my Christmas present the other day. Yes, every Christmas I make it a point to buy myself a Christmas present. After all, who better knows what I want? It’s usually something small and gadgety, but this year I opted for a mug. Not a normal mug though, but a mug with a difference: this mug had photos of my Twitter friends all over it. It was such a brilliant idea, that when I came across it, I bought myself one and bought two as Xmas presents for 2 friends who are also extremely passionate about social media (Sherrilynne and Ted)

The mug produced by the massively awsome guys down at CrowdedInk who have put together a simple process where all you need to do is supply your Twitter username. It makes use of the Twitter API to generate the image of the people your folow and the Zazzle API to generate the mug. What a brilliant idea!

If you click on the mug you can see a larger rendition of the mug and match the photos against my Twitter profile. If you’re one of my Twitter friends, check out if you can see yourself on it ;)

http://www.u-g-h.com/2008/12/22/label-everything/

I’ve wanted one of these gadgets for ages, but never really got round to buying one. Yup, it’s a labelling machine and will let you put labels on everything you want!

I came across one today which lets you print a variety of labels in different colours. It’s a Brother one and print labels in 6 type sizes, 9 type styles and 1 font - all you have to do is type in your text and print. At the touch of a button, you can also add the time and date to your label, with a choice of 8 different formats. This label printer also give you the option of selecting from 71 symbols to display creativity on the label, and includes 5 auto formats and 5 framing options. Along with its easy-to-view, 12-character LCD display and easy-to-use typewriter style keyboard, it features raised keys for more accurate input. It also prints 1 to 2 lines of crisp text, and can add text framing and underlining.

The Brother PT-80 Thermal Label Printer normally sells for around $50 but this week it’s currently available on sale at Buy.com retailing for just $7.99! Note that tape cartridges are around $10 each.

I always wanted one of these when I was at school, so I could label my books, stationary and other stuff, but it was always out of my reach. Now I’m older and wiser, and although I could afford one of them, I can’t really justify it. Maybe I should get one to label Arthur’s things ;)
