Hi All,

 I've installed the Akismet anti-spam plugin and uploaded it to my server with my api key and blog url in place but upon logging into my website as admin I can see no sign of it working.

Has anyone got it working yet? Are there any signs of it in the admin section i.e. links or mark as spam buttons?

 Thanks

 Dan

Hello community,

short question about understanding elgg.

How can I be able to participate in some discussions?

e.g. If I go at the Startpage under "Latest Discussion" picking a point, I can read the discussion, but I cant`t find a way to

give my own mustard to this discussion. Why?

for example:
http://elgg.org/mod/vanillaforum/vanilla/comments.php?DiscussionID=931
or
http://elgg.org/mod/vanillaforum/vanilla/comments.php?DiscussionID=949
or
http://elgg.org/mod/vanillaforum/vanilla/comments.php?DiscussionID=908
and so on..

I never finde some typical forum functions? Is this normal?

Furthermore, I asked myself how can I write a personal message to certain members? Is that possible?

I would be overjoyed if I get a short briefing or a link to the documentation. How can I post in a diskussion.

Thanks for the help.

cheers caipi

Hi,  I have been using elgg for some time, and what I have notice is that you need to mess up with the .htaccess file every time you need to add something, but usually there is not enoght documentation about the changes you need to make, like where to put the lines, if those may conflict with other statements you have, etc...

Is there  any way to manage that ?, is it going to change in future releases ?,

Thanks.

Hallo Everybody.

 I have installed egg in suwalki24.com. My friends start create accounts. But we have one problem. Everybody from us has about 30years old and working. Is it posible to configure Ellg or Member to notify all Comunity members when somebody Post a new Entry? I can't find this option.

Sorry for my english.

Thanks for answer.

I wonder if elgg is serious about making the userbase for the main elgg to grow as huge as possible for a perfect social network which I would like to see because if this is true, I would also recommend my friends to come use this.

Does anyone know if and how it is possible to set up elgg for Hebrew and Arabic, both languages which are aligned right to left?

Is it possible to change what appears in the sidebar? Also, how do you edit what appears in the sidebar? I don't like the fact that the 'community header' reads 'Profile Owner'. I basically need to make it clearer to the 'user' that they are viewing a community and not a personal profile.

The Brighton Uni site does this well, but I can't work out what they've done:

I use these tags in my elgg:

{{blogexecutivesummary:8}}

 {{blogsummary:2:userx}}

The problem is: posts from userx (this is a communitie) apear duplicated in the first tag output. Is there a way to configure something to say I don't want userx posts in the first tag?

Thanks all

I just figured that the tinymce panel is not there when typing in ie7,its ok in firefox no probs.
But the error is :

Line :197
Char. : 5
code : 0
Error : tinymce is undefined.

first i see in my site,then i checked here and now i am typing without the editor in ie7 :)Now the error icon smiles at the left bottom of the window.

EDIT :

i think its aboutv "local" lang/encoding strange but when i put "tr" into tinymce.js like :

tinyMCE_GZ.init({
plugins : '$plugins',
themes : 'advanced',
languages : 'tr,en,$lang',
disk_cache : true,
debug : false

its fixed on my site.
maybe a utf-8/iso confusion ?
