Plugins :: Blog :: [Resolved] what is the htaccess add required for Folio PlugIn?

March 07, 2007

hello - uploaded folio earlier today and went looking for the htacess lines to add to my htaccess file, but could not find any such file or lines anywhere in the downloaded file...so yeah, i went ahead and tried to just upload the whole plugin to /mod and then went to the site and it gave me a big error (duh)...

am i missing something about how this is to be setup? it seems straight forward, but instructions reference adding htaccess lines without any included file...

Keywords: folio, htaccess

  1. Hi Dave;

    If you're downloading the files from http://elgg.net/garrettn/files, then the .zip file should have a folder called 'folio' and a file called .htaccess in the root.  That's the one that you need.   There's a readme.txt file in the /folio/ directory, read that for an explicit set of instructions.

  2. thanks...i'm new to mac and couldn't find it (hidden) but it was easy to get to through bbedit...

    btw, speaking of - while in bbedit i saw another .htaccess on my desktop that simply had a rewrite rule in it - is this for mac? or did i just accidentally download this!!?

  3. this mod is incredible! i was using wakka wiki to start a wiki to incorporate into the site, struggling with the whole integration (like elgg.mediawiki) but there is NO need - your mod does all of this and more - THANK YOU!

    honestly, between this and private messaging i've bolted together a killer app...

  4. The .htaccess on your desktop is probably an accident (maybe from unzipping the file onto your desktop?)

    Thanks for the ego-boosting adjectives :-).  I can't tell you how nice is it to hear a 'thanks', especially after helping people thru problems, and then never hearing back anything after giving the correct fix...  Releasing this is something that I do in my spare time, so it's really nice to get some appreciation.

  5. you're more than welcome - it completely blows away my earlier interest in some kind of 'create pages' mod that would mimic some of what wordpress does for static pages...

    i'm putting up a local community site shortly and this is exactly what is needed for people to pull together resources and directory style information...

    beyond the wiki utility, the actual 'activity monitor' feels like something that should be that prominent out of the box (so to speak) - there is activity monitoring in the basic elgg install,but this is a much richer way to see what's going on...

  6. Is it at all possible that his mod will be working for the latest elgg version soon?

    I do hope so.

    byw - Thanks, Nathan - even if I won't be able to use it :)
