I'm just playing with a test installation of Elgg 0.8 and have tried adding the Vanilla Forum. It seems to have worked OK, but I can't see any way to control access to the categories - for example, only allow community members to view the category associated with the community. I also can't see any way for a user to create new categories. Is there no way to do these things, or am I missing something?

When you logged as 'news' you have administration rights over vanilla.
The plugin create a category per elgg group automaticaly buy with admin rights (with the 'news' user) you can do everything. ;)
