Who am I?

My name is George Washington, I was the first official president of the United States of America. I was born in Westmoreland County, Virginia on February 22, 1732 I’m probably most famous for the honor of my face on the one dollar bill, and the axing of my fathers cherry tree. I was in command as the continental army crossed the Delaware River on a stormy Christmas night in 1776, the British were defeated as it was a huge turning point in the American Revolution, and a much needed victory over the British. My wife Martha Dandridge Custis was the First Lady of the United States. Martha and I had no children of our own but Martha had four children from a previous marriage but only two of them lived into the adulthood years. After being honored to serve a third term as president, I declined the offer and retired at my plantation in Mount Vernon, VA. Three years after, I passed away on December 14, 1799 from a throat infection. My step notes in American history will always be remembered and honored as I fought with great courage and bravery.
